Üsküdar University, THE Interdisciplinary Science Ranking

Üsküdar University achieved significant success in the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings results announced by the international higher education evaluation organization Times Higher Education (THE). Ranked in the 251–300 band (Q1) among 1,267 universities worldwide, Üsküdar University is among the top four private universities in Turkey.

Ranked in the 251–300 band (Q1) among 1,267 universities worldwide, Üsküdar University placed fourth among private universities in Turkey. 

Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel shared an important international achievement, commenting on the university's success in interdisciplinary studies.

Prof. Dr. Ergüzel said, "The communication between academic units, which our university has established and maintained in a healthy manner since its foundation, is supported by 'Working Groups' that academically nourish this structure. The interdisciplinary studies we have conducted in the fields of Neuroscience, Engineering, and Psychology have shown remarkable development in recent years."

Noting that these studies have also been recognized internationally, Prof. Dr. Ergüzel emphasized that Üsküdar University has achieved significant success in the Times Higher Education (THE) – Interdisciplinary Science Rankings. Prof. Dr. Ergüzel said:

"According to the results of the THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, for which we applied with data on our university's interdisciplinary capacity, we ranked in the 251–300 band (Q1) among 1,267 universities worldwide evaluated in this field. In Turkey, we are ranked 4th among foundation universities. We share 4th place with three other foundation universities."

Prof. Dr. Ergüzel thanked all the academics who contributed to the process and said:

"I would like to express my gratitude to Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, first and foremost, for his foresight, support, follow-up, and guidance regarding our international ranking processes, as well as to all our esteemed professors who have contributed to interdisciplinary studies."

Evaluated in 3 main categories

At the end of the statement, information about the methodology of the ranking was also provided. THE – Interdisciplinary Science Rankings evaluates universities in three main categories based on their interdisciplinary research capacity:

The methodology is summarized under three headings:

Inputs (%19): Measures the resources allocated by institutions to interdisciplinary research and their capacity to attract external funding.

Process – Process Management (16%): Evaluates how research is institutionally supported through elements such as infrastructure, administrative support, and promotion policies.

Outputs (65%): Forms the most decisive part of the ranking by measuring the quantity, quality, impact level, and global reputation of interdisciplinary publications produced. This three-part structure provides a comprehensive assessment of resources, processes, and concrete research outputs.
