Debate Victory for Üsküdar University’s Preparatory School!

The Üsküdar University Preparatory School Debate Team achieved a major success by outperforming their tough competitors at the intercollegiate debate tournament hosted by Sabancı University. The Üsküdar representatives, who stood out for their command of the English language and strong argumentation skills, returned from the tournament as champions, becoming a source of pride for the university.

A Logical Victory in the Genetic Debate

In a highly competitive tournament, the Üsküdar University team defended the thesis “Parliament should ban the development of genetically modified organisms (GMOs),” one of the most controversial topics in today’s scientific world. The students, who skillfully navigated the ethical, environmental, and scientific nuances of the topic, earned top marks from the jury with their logical framework and in-depth analysis.

Confidence and Fluency in English

The most striking aspect of their performance throughout the tournament was the students’ exceptional command of English. Team members expressed complex ideas in a foreign language with great confidence, demonstrating an impressive stage presence as they refuted opposing views with sharp logic. This success proved that the language education provided at the preparatory school goes beyond the level of grammar, reaching a level capable of conducting high-standard academic debates.

An Academic Experience Beyond the Classroom

By moving beyond the traditional classroom setting and gaining the opportunity to apply their language skills in a realistic competitive environment, the students strengthened their public speaking skills and self-confidence through this prestigious event. Having gained an invaluable experience in the academic world, the participants gained significant motivation for future international tournaments along with their victory.

Great Motivation for Future Tournaments

Returning from Sabancı University with the trophy, the Üsküdar University Preparatory School Debate Team is preparing for new tournaments to further develop their communication skills and represent their institution on national and international stages. This victory went down in the annals as a concrete reflection of the university’s educational vision, which is grounded in critical thinking and freedom of expression.
