What is PDCA?

Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) Cycle

At Üsküdar University, the PDCA Cycle (Plan - Implement - Check - Take Measures) is one of the basic building blocks of the quality assurance system. In order to continuously improve quality throughout the university, all academic and administrative processes are based on this cycle.

At Üsküdar University, the PDCA Cycle is implemented as follows:

Plan (P)
Üsküdar University systematically plans all academic and administrative processes in line with its strategic goals and mission.
- Targets are set in the fields of education, research and social contribution.
- Planning is done by taking into account the opinions of internal and external stakeholders.
- Compliance with Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) criteria and internal quality assurance system is ensured.
- The strategic plan, academic calendar, performance targets and annual activity plans are created at this stage.

Apply (U)
Planned activities are put into practice by the relevant units.
- Curriculum practices, research projects, social contribution activities, student support services are implemented.
- Student-centered approaches are applied in education and training.
- Processes are carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation and quality standards.
- In line with the job descriptions of academic and administrative staff, roles are clearly defined and activities are carried out.

Check (K)
The effectiveness of the implemented activities and the extent to which they meet the objectives are measured and evaluated.
- Tools such as student satisfaction surveys, academic achievement indicators and alumni feedback are used.
- Internal and external evaluation reports, self-assessment processes and internal audit results are analyzed.
- Performance indicators are monitored.
- Regular monitoring is carried out through internal quality assurance commissions in all units.

Take Measure (T)
Necessary corrective and remedial measures are taken according to the findings.
- Action plans are prepared for areas where targets are not achieved.
- Education and training programs, administrative processes and services are revised.
- Quality-enhancing activities are implemented and the planning process is initiated again.
- Thus, the cycle moves back to the "Plan" stage.
