The first “Student Conference” was held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University organized the “Faculty of Human and Social Sciences Student Conference.” The conference emphasized the importance of transforming 21st-century competencies into concrete projects by integrating mathematics and statistics into the social sciences. It featured three sessions titled “Gender, Power, and Representation,” “History and Social Transformation,” and “Current Research in Psychology.” Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University, also attended the conference, where students presented projects they had prepared across various disciplines and shared their work in diverse fields of the social sciences.

The First Student Congress Was Held at Üsküdar Communication

The Faculty of Communication at Üsküdar University organized the “Student Symposium on Communication Studies (İFİÇ)” for the first time this year. At the symposium, students had the opportunity to present the projects they developed in the field of communication in an academic setting, while topics such as changing communication practices in the age of artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, creativity, and academic production processes took center stage. During the day-long sessions, students presented papers they had prepared in a wide range of fields, including advertising, digital media, artificial intelligence, perception management, education, health, and accessibility.

The “1st International Medical Students’ Project and Innovation Congress (ÜTOPİK),” hosted by the Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, was held.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University and a psychiatrist, stated, “Technology accelerates our lives, but human values guide them.”

“Think not of today’s needs, but of tomorrow’s. When you identify unmet needs, that’s when a project emerges,” said Prof. Dr. Tarhan, adding that every treatment-resistant patient in medicine is, in fact, a unique project in itself.

Future healthcare professionals presented their projects

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Üsküdar University organized the “Faculty of Health Sciences Student Conference.” As part of the conference, which aims to encourage young researchers to engage in scientific research, students from various departments had the opportunity to share their academic knowledge and experience by presenting the projects they had prepared. Projects prepared by students from various departments of the faculty in the fields of health and technology were presented to participants over the course of four sessions, and the conference emphasized the promotion of scientific research and support for young researchers.

Quality and Accreditation in Higher Education

Quality and accreditation in higher education are of critical importance to provide students with reliable and high-quality education. Accreditation determines the compliance of programs with national and international standards, which provides students with a competitive advantage in the business world and their academic careers.

The Üsküdar University Quality Commission conducts its activities in accordance with the "Quality Development and Assurance Directive".

Quality of Academic Staff

The quality of academic staff is of vital importance in terms of quality and accreditation because they play a key role in the education of students. A qualified teaching staff is a fundamental factor in creating and maintaining quality education and research environments.

Guided by its strategy of focusing on the individual at both personal and societal levels, acquiring and retaining the best human resources, and ensuring these individuals reach their full potential, the University directs its quality assurance efforts in higher education. With the Quality Management System Program used by the university, the distribution of documents to internal stakeholders is ensured. Within the program, processes such as Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), internal training records, employee feedback, and meeting minutes are recorded and tracked. Quality Commissions/Quality Directorate carry out organization/guidance activities in program accreditation processes with a holistic approach. With the support of top management and the dedication of academic/administrative units, accreditation efforts are meticulously carried out across the institution. While the university enables the continuous monitoring and improvement of quality efforts in internal evaluation processes; external evaluation program processes by accreditation agencies/institutions register the efficiency and effectiveness of the service provided. Üsküdar University is aware of the importance of stakeholder participation in both the establishment and the dissemination and internalization phases of the quality assurance system, and ensures the coordination of its processes in line with stakeholder feedback.
