Üsküdar University hosted accreditation training

Üsküdar University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted an important event within the scope of quality assurance in higher education. In the training program held in cooperation with STAR Accreditation Association, a comprehensive information was given on accreditation processes and quality standards carried out in universities.

Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Üsküdar University faculty member, Deputy Director of Strategic Studies Application and Research Center Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arslan and members of STAR Accreditation Association attended the event held in Üsküdar University South Campus E Block Socrates Hall.

Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör: "We attach great importance to quality and accreditation processes"

Delivering the opening speech of the event, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör emphasized the importance the university attaches to the accreditation process. Güngör; "As Üsküdar University, we attach great importance to quality and accreditation processes. In 2018, we were involved in an external observation process for the first time with YÖKAK evaluation. That year was a turning point for us. Until today, almost all departments of our Faculty of Communication and important departments of our Faculty of Engineering have been accredited. Our psychology department has completed this process. Our Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is also on this path. We are working with STAR for the first time this year and we are very pleased to welcome you here."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arslan: "I hope your education process will be productive"

Speaking at the event, Üsküdar University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arslan drew attention to STAR's expertise in evaluation processes. Arslan; "All universities in Turkey are focused on the accreditation process. STAR is one of the most competent institutions in our field. I am also a member of STAR's evaluator pool. I hope that the infrastructure we offer you today will contribute to a more efficient education process."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turgay Geçer: "We maintain the established quality culture in Turkey"

STAR Accreditation Association manager, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration (English) faculty member Assoc. Prof. Turgay Geçer gave information about the structure and fields of activity of the association. Pointing out that STAR is the authorized accreditation institution in Turkey in the field of social sciences, Geçer said; "STAR is an accreditation organization affiliated to YÖKAK. We started with a two-year authorization in the first stage, then we received a five-year authorization. We operate in a total of 21 fields such as social sciences, business, economics and international relations. We are authorized for 75 different programs within the scope of program accreditation granted by YÖKAK. Due to our association structure, we have a general assembly, members and various committees. With these structures, we maintain the established quality culture in Turkey."

The training program hosted by Üsküdar University provided important information to the participants in terms of information sharing, experience transfer and dissemination of quality awareness that will contribute to accreditation processes.
