The Faculty of Communication at Üsküdar University organized the “Student Symposium on Communication Studies (İFİÇ)” for the first time this year. At the symposium, students had the opportunity to present the projects they developed in the field of communication in an academic setting, while topics such as changing communication practices in the age of artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, creativity, and academic production processes took center stage. During the day-long sessions, students presented papers they had prepared in a wide range of fields, including advertising, digital media, artificial intelligence, perception management, education, health, and accessibility. 

The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Üsküdar University organized the “Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Student Conference.” As part of the conference, students had the opportunity to present projects they had prepared in various disciplines in an academic setting. The conference, which included students from many departments ranging from engineering to biomedical engineering, forensic science to molecular biology and genetics, aimed to foster a culture of research and encourage scientific output while sharing innovative and interdisciplinary work.  

The “1st International Medical Students’ Project and Innovation Congress (ÜTOPİK),” hosted by the Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, was held. 

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University and a psychiatrist, stated, “Technology accelerates our lives, but human values guide them.”

“Think not of today’s needs, but of tomorrow’s. When you identify unmet needs, that’s when a project emerges,” said Prof. Dr. Tarhan, adding that every treatment-resistant patient in medicine is, in fact, a unique project in itself.

The Faculty of Dentistry at Üsküdar University organized the “1st Project-Themed Student Congress.” The congress, held with the aim of fostering a culture of scientific research among students, supporting their project development skills, and providing a platform for them to share their academic work, featured numerous project presentations. At the congress, students had the opportunity to present the projects they had prepared on a wide range of current topics—from artificial intelligence applications to orthodontics, from implant design to prosthetic rehabilitation, and from patient satisfaction to temporomandibular joint disorders—in an academic setting. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University, and Prof. Dr. Ergün Yücel, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, emphasized the importance of project-based education and scientific research.

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Üsküdar University organized the “Faculty of Health Sciences Student Conference.” As part of the conference, which aims to encourage young researchers to engage in scientific research, students from various departments had the opportunity to share their academic knowledge and experience by presenting the projects they had prepared. Projects prepared by students from various departments of the faculty in the fields of health and technology were presented to participants over the course of four sessions, and the conference emphasized the promotion of scientific research and support for young researchers.  

Üsküdar University, continuing its efforts in the areas of accessibility and inclusivity in higher education, has submitted applications in 21 different categories for the “Barrier-Free University 2026 Awards” organized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Üsküdar submitted applications covering various faculties, institutes, colleges, and campuses in the areas of educational access, physical access, program and campus accessibility, and web accessibility. The initiatives submitted for evaluation—which spanned both program-based initiatives and campus and digital accessibility—once again demonstrated Üsküdar’s commitment to an inclusive approach to education.

Üsküdar University School of Health Services (SHMYO), held a ceremony to celebrate the “Emergency Medical Services Program” and the “Medical Laboratory Techniques Program,” which were awarded full accreditation by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Vocational Education (MEDEK). During the ceremony, faculty members and administrative staff who contributed to the accreditation process were thanked for their efforts. SHMYO Director Dr. Ömer Faruk Karasakal emphasized that full accreditation is an important indicator of educational quality, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a student-centered approach. Noting that this was the first time in the college’s history that applications had been submitted to an accreditation body for two programs simultaneously, Karasakal stated that this achievement was a source of pride for the college. The ceremony also highlighted the importance of embedding quality assurance efforts into the institution’s culture.

The Üsküdar University Preparatory School Debate Team achieved a major success by outperforming their tough competitors at the intercollegiate debate tournament hosted by Sabancı University. The Üsküdar representatives, who stood out for their command of the English language and strong argumentation skills, returned from the tournament as champions, becoming a source of pride for the university.

Internal Audit Process for Administrative Units at Üsküdar University Completed

The self-assessment (internal audit) process conducted for administrative units at Üsküdar University has been successfully completed. As part of the audit, which took place between April 20, 2026, and April 30, 2026, the university’s administrative structure and the functioning of its processes were comprehensively evaluated.

Orientation training sessions, organized to support new employees at Üsküdar University as they adapt to the institutional structure, continue to be held at regular intervals. Conducted under the coordination of the Office of Human Resources, these training programs provide comprehensive information on the university’s organizational structure, work processes, administrative procedures, organizational culture, and quality processes.

The Institute of Sufi Studies at Üsküdar University organized an event titled “Quality Assurance System and Sustainability.” Lecturer Dr. A. Hande Erol Bingüler, a guest speaker at the online seminar, highlighted the decisive role of the concepts of quality culture and sustainability in educational processes, emphasizing that quality is not a matter of chance but the result of a systematic approach. Highlighting the importance of the planning, implementation, monitoring, and improvement processes within the PDCA cycle, Bingüler noted that the understanding of quality in higher education has now evolved into a structure that is outcomes-focused, measurable, and based on continuous improvement. It was also noted during the event that quality assurance systems are not merely a monitoring mechanism but a fundamental tool for institutional learning and development.

Applications are now open for the “Quality Ambassador Training Program (KEP’26),” organized by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) for students.

The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University has achieved a significant milestone in line with its goals of academic quality and excellence in education. The undergraduate programs in Philosophy and Sociology offered by the faculty have earned full 5-year accreditation following the 2025 evaluation process conducted by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Curricula in the Faculties of Science, Literature, Science and Literature, Language, and History-Geography, have been granted full 5-year accreditation following the 2025 evaluation process conducted by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Curricula in the Faculties of Science, Letters, Science and Letters, and Language and History.  

The Turkish and English-language departments of Political Science and International Relations at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University have been granted accreditation for a period of four years following an evaluation process conducted by the STAR Accreditation Agency. This achievement once again underscores the university’s vision of sustainable quality.
