Members of the Üsküdar University Board of Directors gathered at a dinner following the successful completion of the Institutional Accreditation Program (KAP) evaluation conducted by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK). At the meeting, general assessments regarding the university's quality assurance efforts were discussed.

Members of the Üsküdar University Board of Directors attended the dinner held at Dilruba Restaurant.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University and psychiatrist, spoke about the university's scientific studies and international collaborations, saying:
"Our work in the field of genetics has reached an international level. Last month, we presented our research on the genes taken from Alper Gezeravcı upon his return from space at the NASA conference in Australia, and as a result, NASA offered our university a collaboration proposal. We have obtained quite unique findings in this project on space genetics; for example, we have identified that some genes associated with schizophrenia are suppressed in the space environment. The role of a university is not only to provide professional training. Conducting R&D, producing knowledge, informing society, and ensuring that the knowledge produced is transformed into products are also our fundamental responsibilities. The strong feedback we received in YÖKAK's social contribution criteria is a reflection of this. Despite all the difficulties, we continue on our path as a university that complies with the rules and focuses on scientific production."
Furkan Tarhan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Üsküdar University, spoke about the significant achievements of Üsküdar University. Tarhan said, "We have been accepted into the Turkish Universities Union and the European Universities Association. Therefore, our students will have an ID card valid at Turkish-European universities. We also received an award in the Service Export category, ranking 12th in Turkey and 5th among universities."
Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör emphasized the importance of the evaluation process for the university, stating, "We have been intensively developing our quality processes since 2018. Our goal is 5-year accreditation. The evaluation committee assessed our university as very strong in many areas, from education and training to R&D work, from laboratory infrastructure to our capacity for quick action. This comprehensive external evaluation showed that we are on the right track and that we are reaping the rewards of years of hard work."
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel emphasized that the AI-supported model developed using data generated at the hospital can predict psychiatric disorders with high accuracy and that they aim to create an integrated model with genetic data in the coming period. Ergüzel said, "The data generated at our hospital is very valuable for researchers and is made available to our physicians. The model we have developed can predict a psychiatric disorder with 93% accuracy using the EEG or MRI data of a patient it has never seen before. Next year, we aim to develop a model that can distinguish seven different disorders at once and combine this with genetic data to achieve a first in Turkey."
During the dinner, board members evaluated the feedback obtained from the KAP visit, the steps to be taken to develop a quality culture, and the university's strategic goals.
The conversations, held in a warm and open atmosphere, concluded with an exchange of views aimed at strengthening both academic and institutional efforts.
