

The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University has achieved a significant milestone in line with its goals of academic quality and excellence in education. The undergraduate programs in Philosophy and Sociology offered by the faculty have earned full 5-year accreditation following the 2025 evaluation process conducted by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Curricula in the Faculties of Science, Literature, Science and Literature, Language, and History-Geography, have been granted full 5-year accreditation following the 2025 evaluation process conducted by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Curricula in the Faculties of Science, Letters, Science and Letters, and Language and History.

As part of the 2025 Evaluation Cycle, the Sociology and Philosophy Bachelor’s Degree Programs—which underwent their first and re-accreditation general evaluations according to FEDEK criteria—have earned accreditation following detailed reviews.
The accreditation period for both programs has been set to be valid from April 2, 2026, to September 30, 2031. As of April 7, 2026, the programs have been included in FEDEK’s official list of accredited programs.
This significant development once again underscores Üsküdar University’s commitment to sustainable quality in education and its determination to comply with national standards.

The accreditation decision was made following an intensive three-day evaluation process conducted at the faculty.
Throughout the process, the departments’
- Academic and administrative structure,
- Curriculum content,
- Learning outcomes,
- Assessment and evaluation systems,
- academic staff qualifications, and
- quality improvement mechanisms.

During the meetings held as part of the visit, the university’s quality assurance approach was addressed from a holistic perspective.
During the discussions held in the Senate Hall, detailed evaluations regarding quality policies were conducted with senior management.
In the presentations made by the faculty administration, attention was drawn to the multidimensional nature of the concept of quality in the social sciences. It was emphasized that the fundamental goal is to educate individuals who encourage critical thinking, are sensitive to ethical values, and can generate solutions to social problems.
It was stated that accreditation processes are an integral part of this holistic culture of quality.

During the evaluation process, classrooms, laboratories, and academic infrastructure were inspected on-site.
Feedback on the effectiveness of the programs was gathered through interviews with students and external stakeholders. In addition, the contributions of administrative units and support services were evaluated in detail.

FEDEK accreditation stands out as a strong indicator of Üsküdar University’s quality-focused educational vision and commitment to continuous improvement. The fact that the Sociology and Philosophy programs within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences have achieved this success serves as an important factor of trust both within the academic community and in terms of student preferences.
