The accreditation process for the First Aid and Emergency Care and Medical Laboratory Techniques programs at Üsküdar University Health Services Vocational School (SHMYO) was successfully completed during the site visit conducted by the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) between October 30-31 and November 1, 2025. At the end of the site visit, the MEDEK evaluation team concluded their work by reading the program exit statement and departed from Üsküdar University.

The field visit, part of the accreditation process, lasted three days. The program began in the Senate Hall at the Main Campus with the participation of Üsküdar University's senior management and continued at the Health Services Vocational School (SHMYO) on the Çarşı Campus.

Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Rector of Üsküdar University, delivered the opening speech of the program. Güngör said, "Although we are a young university established in 2011, we have progressed dynamically and visionarily in a short time. From the very beginning, we aimed to be a university with a strong academic structure and a focus on scientific production by setting the right goals. Today, we have a success graph that doubles every year with our R&D studies, patents, and academic publications. We prioritize the quality of education and teaching, and we take care to train our students to be individuals who will contribute to society. In the process of internationalization, we are growing rapidly, conducting academic collaborations and accreditation processes with many countries and universities. As a university that transcends Üsküdar, we value not only education but also making a meaningful contribution to society and humanity. Of course, we may have shortcomings in this process, but we continue to move forward as an institution that is open to development, learning, and constantly renewing itself. We are working together to achieve better results."

Dr. Ömer Faruk Karasakal, Director of the Health Sciences Vocational School at Üsküdar University, emphasized the importance of training qualified healthcare professionals. Karasakal said, "We are in the midst of the external evaluation process, which is one of the most important stages of quality assurance culture in higher education. For us, accreditation is not just a document or a specific process; it is a continuous path of learning, development, and sharing. In line with this understanding, we have built our education process on the principles of a student-centered approach, commitment to ethical values, and continuous improvement. As a Vocational School, our primary goal is not only to graduate students but to train qualified health professionals who contribute to society with their knowledge, skills, and values. Your evaluations in this process will guide us. They will help us strengthen our strengths and see our areas for improvement more clearly."

The program began in the Senate Hall of the Central Campus with a general information presentation covering Üsküdar University and the Vocational School of Health Services, delivered by SHMYO Director Dr. Ömer Faruk Karasakal, and then continued at the Vocational School of Health Services on the Çarşı Campus.

The evaluation team, coordinated by SHMYO Deputy Directors Assoc. Prof. Feride Kulalı Özdek and Lecturer Esad Sadık Demirtaş, examined the campus's infrastructure capabilities and the application areas and educational infrastructure of the First Aid and Emergency Care and Medical Laboratory Techniques programs on site. Academics from the relevant programs shared information about the operation of the programs within the laboratories and application areas.
The evaluation team, which received information about the laboratories
, application workshops, and classrooms equipped with modern equipment, had the opportunity to closely observe the practical training opportunities for students.

In addition, detailed information was shared about the academic staff, program diversity, and student projects.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak said, "This process was also a beginning for us. Beginnings are exciting. We were delighted to host you here for these three days.
