Orthodontics and Pedodontics laboratories, one of the few in Turkey, opened

The opening ceremony of the Orthodontic Laboratory and Pedodontic Laboratory was held by Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry and Üsküdar University Dental Hospital. While academics showed great interest in the opening ceremony, the new laboratories will enable students to receive hands-on training, improve their manual skills and gain clinical experience. One of the few examples in Turkey, the laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment offer advanced facilities for the production, repair and renewal of both orthodontic and pedodontic appliances.

The laboratories within Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry and Üsküdar University Dental Hospital will serve on the 4th floor of the Faculty of Dentistry, NP Health Campus.

Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University, Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Ziver Ergün Yücel, Head of the Department of Medical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek and Professor Dr. Yumuşhan Günay from the Department of Prosthodontics attended the opening ceremony for these two laboratories, which are also important for Turkey.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan and Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör visited the laboratories and received information from the relevant physicians. Tarhan stated that the laboratories will make great contributions to both patients and students.

Practical training opportunity with the pedodontics laboratory

Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry Dr. Assist. The Pedodontics laboratory, opened under the responsibility of Prof. Dr. Buse Yılmaz Şen, provides the necessary infrastructure for the production, repair and renewal of removable and fixed appliances planned to be applied to patients by pedodontics specialists.

This laboratory also offers an important training opportunity for Dental Prosthetics Technology students. Students have access to professional knowledge and have the opportunity to improve their manual skills and do practical work.

Access to current technologies with the orthodontics laboratory

The orthodontic laboratory, under the responsibility of Faculty of Dentistry Vice Dean and Department of Orthodontics Dr. Lecturer Zeynep Mutlu, is positioned as a holistic part of the orthodontic clinic. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Mutlu is in charge of the orthodontics laboratory, which is positioned as a holistic part of the orthodontics clinic. Laboratory studies of removable and fixed appliances to be applied by orthodontists according to the treatment plan are carried out here. Advanced facilities are also offered for the repair and replacement of broken or deformed appliances.

In addition, the orthodontic photography studio in the Orthodontics laboratory is integrated into the clinic. Speaking about the importance of the studio where intraoral and extraoral photographs are taken to take the patient's orthodontic records, Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Mutlu; "We usually take intraoral photos in the units, but we take extraoral photos in front of the curtain for standardization. That's why we have a blackout curtain. We also have an orthodontic drawing room to manage treatment processes more accurately. We can see the whole development of the patient from here."
