Quality and efficiency discussed in Üsküdar

Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Directorate and Quality and Productivity Club organized an event on "Our Quality Priority in Higher Education". Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Acting Rector and Quality Commission Chairman Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka made the opening speech of the event. Emphasizing on the concepts of quality and efficiency, Tarhan said, "Quality is not done for PR purposes."

The event, which took place at the Kuleli Hall of the Central Campus, was hosted by Namık Demir, Quality Specialist at Üsküdar University Human Resources Directorate.


Prof. Dr. Tarhan: "Health is the field where quality is most important"

Tarhan, who evaluated the establishment of a club on quality and efficiency as farsightedness, shared the quality understanding of developed countries. Tarhan said, "The most important feature of developed countries is that they bring standards and establish systems related to quality. Quality means a crisis plan, a risk plan and also means analyzing needs. After analyzing these, it is necessary to develop projections and strategies for the future. In quality work done in this way, errors are minimized. The field where quality is most important is the field of health."

Prof. Dr. Tarhan: No quality for PR purposes!

Touching on the medium and long term benefits of quality, Tarhan emphasized that managers should believe in quality. Tarhan said, "Quality actually seems expensive, but it is an investment that pays off in the medium and long term. You do a quality job and your brand value is created, you develop a design to ensure the continuity of that quality. They create the brand value accordingly. If the managers don't believe in it, quality doesn't work, the person has to believe in it. Quality is not done for PR purposes, quality is either done or not done, the moment you appear to be doing it, you are disconnected from quality. It may give results in the short term, but in the medium and long term, it will cause serious losses."



Prof. Dr. Zelka: "The resources available are limited considering the needs of people"

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka also emphasized that human resources should be used in the best way in terms of quality and efficiency. Zelka said, "The names of some companies are mentioned with billions of dollars, and when you think about the reason for this, quality is the first factor that comes to mind. When you consider quality and efficiency together, all countries in the world, both developed countries and developing countries, should make the best use of the resources they have. Because resources are limited considering the needs of people. In order to use the resources in the most efficient way, it is necessary to think rationally and this requires a mind process."


Students made presentations on quality

Üsküdar University Student Council President Büşra Özdoğan made a presentation on Our Quality Priority in Higher Education. Özdoğan mentioned the definition of the student council and gave information about the work done. Ankara University Higher Education Quality Board Student Member Berk ER shared information on how to increase quality. Sakarya University Young Quality Community Chairman Muhammed İyisan gave information about the vision and values of the Young Quality Community. Referring to the definition of the concept of accreditation, Üsküdar University Higher Education Quality Board Student Evaluator Yasemin Otyakmaz shared about the accreditation studies carried out.
