Üsküdar University Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Young Brains Academy Application and Research Center Director Dr. Lecturer Nebiye Yaşar. Prof. Dr. Nebiye Yaşar, Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports (SKS) Department Head Özcan Demir, SKS Manager in charge of Clubs Sadık Paksoy, SKS Department Assistant Manager Kenan Karagöz, SKS Activity Assistant Manager Merve Meliha Günaltay and Konya KONES Handicrafts Cooperative President Traditional Turkish Arts Calligraphy and Tile artist Şerife Ünal Yıldırım, academicians, club presidents and students attended the event.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan listened to the social contribution-oriented projects carried out by the students throughout the year and congratulated the students for their work. Tarhan; "It is very valuable to take such an initiative at a young age. By the way, I would like to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports. These projects are a start. There is no social transformation without mental transformation. There is no social, political and economic transformation without social transformation. In fact, there is something I always emphasize: 'Software is harder than hardware'. Einstein also said, 'I have split the atom, but I cannot split prejudices.' The biggest obstacle in front of projects is prejudices. Projects that will disperse prejudices are projects that will serve our future. These social, social and cultural prejudices block and lock the person. This creates learned helplessness in people."
Tarhan said that medium and long-term projects are very valuable; "We need to set a goal for the future. Because a person who sets goals develops. A person without a goal cannot improve himself. This is a matter of vision. There is even an example about this. Kennedy visited NASA when it was founded. He meets a cleaning lady there. He asks, 'What do you do?' The man replied, 'I serve America's space project.' He is a cleaning worker, but look at his vision. The same story is told about Sinan the Architect. When Süleymaniye or Selimiye was being built, they asked a worker, "What do you do?" He said, "I work for this much daily wage. They ask another worker and he says, 'I am building the biggest mosque in the world.' They are both doing the same job, but their perspectives and visions are different. The person who attributes a great meaning to his work advances rapidly, becomes a chef, a master. This is how it is in life. If you look at a project from this perspective, you can progress. So don't underestimate projects. Projects are like seeds sown for the future. You need to set your target well here. If your target and strategy are clear, those projects will become trees that will bear fruit in the future. Especially medium and long-term projects are much more valuable. Therefore, it is important that you continue this work. We also have social projects. We need to focus on them as well. Because the thing that stops us the most as a society is hopelessness and pessimism. A person with a project does not fall into pessimism. If he has a goal, a long-term idea, he does not give up immediately in case of failure. Projects give people resistance. So always have a goal, always have a project."
Within the scope of the meeting, Young Brains Academy Application and Research Center Director Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Nebiye Yaşar made her speech. Yaşar; "Today is a very special day. There is a phrase that Nevzat Tarhan frequently emphasizes, 'What did you do for your project today?' You have given the best answer to this question. I congratulate and applaud you all from the bottom of my heart. I would like to continue with an important quote of our teacher: "Have a passionate life purpose." You have reflected this passion very well in the 27 projects supported by UNIDES this year. The President of UNIDES from the Ministry of Youth and Sports called us and said, 'What have you done, what beautiful projects, how well-equipped students you have raised? These words honored us. You have made a very meaningful start with your work. I hope the continuation will be just as beautiful. The German philosopher Marc Leibniz says, 'He who directs the youth towards the good, directs humanity towards the good. You are leaving a cultural heritage for the future with these projects. We are proud of all of you."
After the opening speeches, Özcan Demir, Head of SKS Department, made a presentation about the work done by the clubs.
After the presentation, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan and Sadık Paksoy gave the students certificates of participation and the book 'Being a Conscious Youth'.
Also within the scope of the program, Konya KONES Handicrafts Cooperative President, Traditional Turkish Arts Calligraphy and Tile artist Şerife Ünal Yıldırım presented Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan with a painting she made.
The program ended after the collective photo shoot.
