Üsküdar Communication's New Media and Journalism department is in the process of accreditation
The ILEDAK evaluation team, which carries out the accreditation evaluation processes of programs in the field of communication on behalf of the Communication Research Association (ILAD), made an institutional visit to Üsküdar University. During the institutional visit, where the Faculty of Communication, Department of New Media and Journalism was evaluated, the evaluation team examined the infrastructure facilities; met with faculty members, students, graduates, external stakeholders and Üsküdar University administrators.
First day to visit the sites
The ILEDAK evaluation team, consisting of team chair Prof. Dr. Abdülrezak Altun, co-chair Dr. Recep Yaşar, program evaluators Prof. Dr. Dilruba Çatalbaş Ürper and Prof. Dr. Gülseren Şendur Atabek, came to the Faculty of Communication on Sunday afternoon, November 10, and met with academic staff and university administrators. After a chat in the faculty garden, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör and Head of the Department of New Media and Journalism Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan showed the evaluation team around the faculty's studios, computer labs, classrooms, library, conference rooms and news workshop.
On the second day of the institutional visit, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör informed the evaluation team about the Faculty of Communication. Then the evaluators asked questions to the Head of the Department Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan within the framework of the self-evaluation report and examined the documents.
Lunch with stakeholders

Meeted with university administrators, faculty and students
After the dinner, Prof. Dr. Abdülrezak Altun, chairman of the evaluation team, and Dr. Recep Yaşar, co-chairman, first met with Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka, Acting Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka, Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Muhsin Konuk, and then with university unit managers.
Program evaluators Prof. Dr. Dilruba Çatalbaş Ürper and Prof. Dr. Gülseren Şendur Atabek interviewed students from each class of the New Media and Journalism program, followed by faculty members and research assistants.
Evaluation report presented at exit interview
On the last day of the institutional visit, the ILEDAK evaluation team read their report based on their observations and evaluations at the meeting where Üsküdar University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka was present and then gave a copy of the report to Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan, Head of the Department of New Media and Journalism. During the exit meeting, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, assistant deans Dr. Assist. Prof. Dr. Can Diker and Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Assistant Deans Dr. Lecturer Can Diker and Dr. Lecturer Pınar Aslan, University Secretary General Selçuk Uysaler, Human Resources Director Serdar Karagöz, Quality Specialist Namık Demir and faculty members of the Department of New Media and Journalism were also present at the exit meeting.
What happens next?
ILEDAK evaluation team will submit its report to ILEDAK management. ILEDAK management will review the report and submit it to the ILAD Board of Directors for a decision. The final decision on accreditation will be made by the ILAD Board of Directors in the light of the evaluation team's report and recommendation.
