The second project launch meeting took place

The second Project Launch Meeting was organized by Üsküdar University R&D and Innovation Policies Directorate. The project presentations that attracted attention in the field of science and social sciences were highly appreciated.

'Project Launch Meeting' was held at Üsküdar University Central Campus Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall.

Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Üsküdar University Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak, Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy, Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel and academic and administrative staff attended the program.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay: "This is a very good achievement when we consider Turkey in general"

R&D and Innovation Policies Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay delivered the opening speech of the meeting. Özay; "When we look at our 2209 A and B student projects, we see an increase in our applications when we compare the numbers of 2023 and 2024. While there were 99 applications in 2023, we currently have 128 applications. In 2023, we have a success rate of approximately 70 percent with our 68 percent acceptance rate. When we look at the projects of our academic staff, we see that the total number of applications was 110 in 2023. Eleven of these were completed as projects in the same year. Apart from that, we have 22 ongoing projects. When we look at our success rate and acceptance rate, we see that there is a 20 percent success. This is a very good success when we consider Turkey in general."

After the opening speech, the project presentations started.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot: "We use different therapy techniques in voice disorder"

Firstly, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot, Head of Department of Speech and Language Therapy, Faculty of Health Sciences, Üsküdar University, presented the project titled "Investigation of the Effects of Different Strategies Used in Determining Vocal Endurance and Different Methods Used in Voice Therapy with Non-invasive and Biochemical Methods - A New Approach (TÜSEB-A)".

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot; "In this second launch meeting, we will talk about a part of the doctoral thesis that we applied to TÜSEB and completed. I was the coordinator of this project. We use different therapy techniques in voice disorders. One of them is absolute voice rest. The other is the blowing into water technique, which we call the semi-closed voice therapy technique, where the vocal cords vibrate. At that time, the vocal cords also vibrate, but it is said to have a therapeutic effect because it provides proper vibration and oscillation. Therefore, we also tried to examine whether this semi-closed voice technique would work with absolute voice rest."

Prof. Dr. Barış Erdoğan: "We tried to understand the effect of sociology education on our students"

Prof. Dr. Barış Erdoğan, Head of the Department of Sociology at Üsküdar University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, made a project presentation titled "The Impact of Sociology Education on University Students (ÜÜ BAP)".

Prof. Dr. Barış Erdoğan; "The main purpose of our meeting today is to inspire each other by telling about our projects. We tried to understand the effect of sociology education on our students. We think that this study should not stay here. In other words, it needs to work in cooperation with TÜBİTAK and other universities. At the beginning of this semester, I had our students who took the 'Introduction to Sociology' course pre-tested. In the spring semester, we want to see how effective the courses are at the beginning of the semester and at the end of the semester, and how they are transformed. As a result of this study, two articles were published..."

Various projects ranging from science to social sciences...

Afterwards, Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Software Engineering Dr. Prof. Mehmet Kaan İldiz shared his project presentation titled "Developing AI Ecosystems Improving Diagnosis and Care of Mental Diseases (DAISY) (TÜBİTAK-ITEA 4 TEYDEB 1509)" with the participants.

Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Deputy Head of Department of Chemical Engineering Dr. Assist. Prof. Dr. Nigar Kantarcı Çarşıbaşı presented the project presentation titled "Investigation of Natural Source and FDA Approved Molecules for the Inhibition of Acetylcholinesterase Enzyme by In Silico and In Vitro Techniques in the Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease (ÜÜ BAP)" to the participants.

Üsküdar University Institute of Social Sciences Head of Neuromarketing Department Dr. Assist. Prof. Dr. Selami Varol Ülker shared his presentation titled "Journey to the New World of E-commerce: Investigation of Consumer Behavior in Virtual Reality and Website Environments with EEG and Skin Conductivity Methods (TÜBİTAK-3501/Career Development Program)" with the participants.

Üsküdar University Advertising Department Graduate and Entrepreneur Alihan Marulcu presented his project titled "Alcago-Interactive and Gamified Advertising Model" to the participants.
The program, which drew attention to innovative projects, ended with a collective photo shoot.
