Üsküdar University established Science Communication Coordinatorship in order to bring scientific developments together with all segments of society. The Science Communication Coordinatorship aims to explain scientific developments in a language that everyone can understand, to increase scientific awareness and to bring the academic knowledge of the university to a wide audience. This step encourages the establishment of science communication offices in universities across Turkey under the umbrella of "Science Homeland", an initiative led by the Council of Higher Education.
Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör spoke about the establishment of the Science Communication Coordinatorship. Güngör; "It is not enough to leave science only in laboratories or academic publications. Universities should take a more active role in the connection of science with society. Our Science Communication Office offers a contemporary and powerful response to this need."
Science Communication Coordinator, Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, Department of Advertising, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Becan said the following about the importance of his coordinatorship: "Our aim is not only to explain science, but also to arouse curiosity, make us think and inspire us. We want to make science understandable for everyone. Because we believe that science multiplies as it is explained and deepens as it is shared."
Among the main activities of the Science Communication Office;
- Publicizing the research and projects carried out within the University,
- Making scientific knowledge visible in traditional and digital channels through media collaborations,
- Improving the science communication competencies of students and academicians.
Established in line with Üsküdar University's mission on the axis of "human, society and science", the Science Communication Coordinatorship invites everyone who believes that science is not only a field of specialization but also the basic building block of social development to meet with science.
