3 new laboratories opened at Üsküdar University!

Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services opened three new laboratories in order to provide a higher quality education for its students. In this context, the opening ceremony of the Podology Laboratory, Hair Care and Beauty Services Laboratory and Pathology Laboratory was held. Modern laboratories, which aim to make learning permanent by putting theoretical knowledge into practice, are equipped with various training sets and allow students to receive practical training. The laboratories aim to train future health professionals and provide the sector with well-equipped individuals.

Üsküdar University Founding Rector and Chairman of the Board of Directors Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, academicians and program students attended the opening ceremony.

Foot health is addressed with a scientific approach

Providing information about the laboratory, Lect. Assist. Muharrem Tosun stated that the laboratories will make students better equipped to protect foot health and prevent diseases.

Özdemir; "Our students who want to receive education from the Podology program benefit from this laboratory. Applications are carried out in the company of experienced podologists who are competent in their field, especially in field courses. It is aimed to train qualified health professionals who can perform medical applications in healthy individuals who can properly perform foot care directed by physicians who recognize the problems that occur in the foot according to the diagnosis and treatment methods. In this direction, our goal in our laboratory is to provide an environment where our students can put their theoretical knowledge into practice. We aim to develop our students to become experts in their field thanks to the laboratory equipment equipped with modern technology in our laboratory."

The Podology Program focuses on the recognition of foot problems and providing foot care for individuals directed by physicians. In the laboratory, many applications such as medical foot care, orthonyxia methods, onycoplasty applications, bandage and wrapping techniques are performed.
In addition, basic applications for treatment such as the evaluation of foot health problems, nail pathologies and calluses are also taught to students within the scope of the laboratory.

Then the Hair Care and Beauty Services Laboratory was visited. Program Head Lecturer. Assist. The Hair Care and Beauty Services Laboratory, which is under the responsibility of Birgül Erbaş, offers a modern educational environment in order to train competent professionals needed in the sector.

Underlining that the trainings are carried out practically with devices with up-to-date technology, Lect. Assist. Birgül Erbaş; "We are in our laboratory where our applied trainings take place. Our students are preparing for the sector in the best way by transforming their theoretical knowledge into practice here. We carry out our trainings practically with devices with up-to-date technology. HydraFacial device is a state-of-the-art system used for deep cleansing and renewal of the skin. G5 massage device plays an important role in body care by accelerating blood circulation. Cavitation and radiofrequency devices are used in regional thinning and skin tightening applications. The lymph drainage device helps to remove edema in the body and support the circulatory system. Our students have the opportunity to learn and practice hair removal techniques in our laboratory. They also gain professional competence by receiving comprehensive training in professional make-up applications, haircutting, coloring, styling and care. As Üsküdar University, we prepare our students for the sector in the best way possible with the trainings we provide in our well-equipped laboratory."

Pointing out that they aim to make students ready for the field by combining theories with practice, Lecturer. Assist. Eda Yetimoğlu; "Pathology is a laboratory where all kinds of organ, tissue, fluid and swab samples taken from the patient are examined. We aim to make the pathology technician candidates we have trained ready for the field by reinforcing the information they have received in theory in the application laboratory. The work we have done here covers all the processes that take place under the microscope after the sample taken from the patient is sent to the laboratory. These processes cover many processes from tissue sectioning to macroscopy, from embedding to staining to tissue embedding. The operations we have done here are manual operations, and the purpose of this is to give students the opportunity to catch the chance to correct their mistakes by revealing their mistakes, and we ensure their graduation by combining their theories with practice and making them ready for the field."

In the laboratory, students have the opportunity to learn the procedures performed in the process until the histological and cytological samples are taken from the body and diagnosed.

Within the laboratory, there are sections such as macroscopy room, tissue embedding area, tissue sectioning section with microtome, histological and cytological staining area and microscope room. Students who receive education in these fields are fully equipped for their professional lives thanks to their laboratory experiences.
