Authorization and Recognition of Accreditation Bodies

The authorization of national accreditation bodies by YÖKAK is based on the following criteria.

  • 1. The organization should have predetermined and announced mission and objectives. The organization should carry out its activities in line with these objectives. Wide participation of stakeholders in management processes and practices should be ensured. It should be proven that the practices and criteria used for output-oriented program accreditation are in accordance with national and international standards (especially ESG) and reliable, and that their decisions are accurate.
  • 2. The financial and institutional structure of the organization must be sound, sustainable and in compliance with the legislation and field of activity.
  • 3. The organization should act independently in terms of its operational processes, organizational structure and responsibility for official results.
  • 4. The organization should regularly publish general evaluation reports analyzing the results of program accreditation activities.
  • 5. The organization must have adequate and appropriate resources, both human and financial, to sustain its program accreditation activities.
  • 6. The organization should have appropriate internal quality assurance processes in place to monitor, evaluate and assure the outcomes of its activities and to sustain continuous improvement efforts.
  • 7. The organization should be involved in external evaluation processes to assess the compliance of its activities with national and international standards (especially ESG) and to continuously improve its quality assurance system.

The recognition of international accreditation bodies is within the scope of the following criteria carried out by YÖKAK:

  • 1. The organization must demonstrate that the criteria it uses and its practices for program accreditation are reliable and in accordance with national (of our country) and international standards (especially ESG).
